D-Orbit is hiring an Assembly-Integration-and-Verification (AIV) systems engineer to join our growing systems engineering team. As an integral part of the group, you will be involved in the design, verification, and validation, including launch and on-orbit operations, of various D-Orbit spacecraft platforms. As an AIV engineer, your primary focus will be verification and validation, including the environmental test campaign and participation in launch vehicle integration at the launch base. Your ultimate objective as an AIV systems engineer is to verify and ensure your systems, the spacecraft, are compliant with the applicable requirements and validated against the user needs in the real operational mission.

You will work together with other systems engineers, following the full design and development cycle of the systems product, starting from the preliminary design and the requirements capture, preliminary systems architecture and detailed systems/subsystems design, analysis and trade-off, definition of the verification campaign, test plan and procedures, execution of the tests on first prototypes and final requirements compliance assessment. In particular, you will focus on requirements verification methods, compliance matrices, verification and validation plans, and technology development plans. You will define test specifications/procedures and actively participate in the execution of the verification activities, including reporting and data postprocessing to eventually demonstrate requirement compliance. You will support the flight operations team in executing on-orbit validation tests during the real mission.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Plan the integration and testing of new satellites from components acceptance to launch campaign shipment;

  • Define and maintain the verification and validation strategy, model philosophy and plan, participating to the Assembly Verification and Integration (AIV) / Manufacturing-Assembly-Testing-Integration (MAIT) activities;

  • Define the systems and subsystems verification test plans and procedures;

  • Manage the systems-level and OBDH s/s functional verifications autonomously, including the test execution on the engineering models / flat-sat;

  • Work within a multidisciplinary team of specialists on the systems and s/s design;

  • Contribute to the systems and subsystems budgeting and integration within the project team;

  • Support systems- and subsystems- requirements capturing & management, with focus on verification;

  • Interface with prototyping technicians and with the launch campaign team during the V&V campaign;

  • Support the Flight Ops team for on-orbit validation activities throughout the mission execution.

Job Requirements:

  • Min 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in space or other engineering domains, such as aeronautics.

  • Experienced and autonomous in the definition of test plans, test procedures and reports.

  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of Test (functional testing, Electrical bonding/isolation, Vibration, TVAC;

  • Practical hands-on experience in test execution on engineering models / flat-sat or equivalent HW-SW testbench;

  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering principles and systems-level knowledge of all spacecraft subsystems, with particular emphasis on OBDH;

  • Knowledge of data bus architectures;

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety principles and their application to the specific environment;

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

  • Proactive attitude and ability to work in a team.

  • Experience in the use of Matlab and Python;

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

  • This role requires professional proficiency in English.

Nice-to-have skills:

  • DOORS / Jama requirements experience;

  • Knowledge of Linux.

  • Knowledge of ECSS/NASA standards.

We offer a base salary range of €33,000–€42,000 gross per year for this role, depending on experience and location, plus a performance-based variable component. Final offer may vary based on overall fit and internal equity.
